Victoria Falls is the world's largest waterfall by combined width and height, stretching 1,708 metres across and plunging 108 metres into the Zambezi Gorge below. The spray can be seen from 50 kilometres away, and the roar of the water heard from 40 kilometres. It is, without question, one of the most awe-inspiring natural spectacles on Earth.
The falls are best viewed from the Zimbabwe side, where a series of viewpoints along the rainforest walk offer dramatic perspectives of the full width of the falls. The Zambia side offers access to the famous Devil's Pool — a natural infinity pool right on the edge of the falls — accessible during the low water season from August to December.
Activities at Victoria Falls are world-class: white-water rafting on the Zambezi (Grade 5 rapids), bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge, helicopter flights over the falls, sunset river cruises, and guided nature walks in the surrounding national parks.
